Awaken to team leadership by learning to sail and lead on the MIANA.

This leadership development program follows a team-centered approach (team leadership). It also challenges the paradigm of leadership as an individual phenomenon, contrasting it with the construction of leadership identity as a social process and the leader-team dyad relationship, along with the processes that explain its emergence.

The program consists of a set of situational tests (group dynamics) where the leadership knowledge acquired in theoretical classroom training is applied and developed. The group dynamics were designed to facilitate interaction between teams and the development of leadership in the formed groups. Throughout the program, the application and implementation of team leadership processes in group dynamics are evaluated, mainly aboard the sailboat where students will apply this knowledge while navigating and sailing at sea. All participants during the program are appointed to team leadership roles, being assigned missions and problems to solve. At the end of each group dynamic, they conduct a self-critique and are assessed on their ability to cooperate and interact within the groups formed throughout the program.

The goal is to evaluate the emergence of team leadership in solving problems created by the situational tests, regardless of their roles and hierarchical levels. This way, teamwork and a leadership culture are developed.
